IT Director

West Midlands (hybrid)

£140-160k base

This is a crucial senior leadership role leading the internal and external IT functions with an overall capex and opex budget spend of c£7m and directing the delivery and strategy of IT for the business.  The role holder must be a comfortable team player, capable of operating in a partially immature function, ideally with experience in a variety of environments with the ability to steer towards best practice process and delivery that has been clearly defined.  The ability to think strategically while also having the ability to operate with a “sleaves up” approach will be critical to success.

Key Responsibilities 

As IT Director your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing the strategic approach to Technology, application stack, infrastructure, service, business insight / intelligence and solution delivery (i.e. transformation large and small).
  • Internal team accountability for Service Delivery, Solution Delivery, Transformation and Business Intelligence functions with an overarching knowledge of Infrastructure and Cyber security to ensure third party delivery.
  • Overseeing and managing teams, programmes, projects, people development and motivation across a local and remote set of individuals.
  • Ensuing technology architecture and objectives are considered throughout the operation and potential transformation project delivery.

  • Coaching and developing people while acutely retaining control and focus on company approval and authorisation procedures.

Person Specification:

A proven and quantifiable track record of delivering well executed, managed and cost-effective technology projects and service / solution delivery.

A commercially focused attitude and be able to build and maintain relationships with Support Office, Operations, and suppliers.

A flexible approach to work to ensure that the job gets done – but safely, securely and quickly.

Must be energetic, self-motivated, and driven to succeed. The ability to multi-task, prioritise and work at pace are key to this role.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate, influence and implement change.

Ability to build effective relationships both internally and externally.

The ability to lead on a level of system / infrastructure architecture.

Experience in Change / Digital Transformation, Agile, Prince2 Practitioner, APM, PMP, TOGAF

ITIL Service Delivery standards, lean tailored processes and best practice – adapting methods for business scale and resource constraints.

Experience of The Access Group suite of products (Health/ Social Care sector or otherwise) and Managed Service Providers would be beneficial.
